Nursing Home Abuse Statistics
The statistics related to nursing home abuse intensifies the fears that it has become a widespread national concern. Reports clearly reveal that at least 30% of the nursing home facilities are known to been the site of abuse incidents. Another shocking fact is that most of the abuse instances in nursing homes go un-reported. The statistics cover a range of problems from death due to malnutrition or dehydration to inadequate medical care, and even mistreatment of many serious injuries.
It's matter of serious concern as to where to begin in order to fix this problem. Even reputed media agencies focusing on one of the nation's greatest law enforcement challenges of today have been alarmed at the facts and statistics of nursing home abuse cases. The team of investigators from House Government Reform Committee prepared a study of nursing home abuse and the statistics were gathered from the report. It was in fact a shock to committee leaders. Another serious factor is the growing number of old people which will eventually pose a stress upon healthcare and welfare pool budget. The need of the hour is to drastically and immediately check the incidents of nursing home abuse and related medical malpractices on older population.
